Activities abound in the White Mountain region!
Outdoor adventures, hiking, biking, boating, and kayaking are just a few of the things readily available. Bring your own bikes, boats, or kayaks or rent from several outfitters nearby. Feeling a bit more adventurous, zip-lines and vertical playgrounds, off-road excursions, and dog-sledding are all available.
Quieter excursions to local museums (Franconia Heritage Museum, Sugar Hill Museum, New England Ski Museum), theaters (Papermill, Weathervane), concerts (North Country Chamber Players), and historical venues (The Frost Place, The Iron Furnace) are numerous in the area.
Attractions aplenty are within a short drive, with something for everyone. Storyland and Santa’s Village for the younger kids, Whales Tale Water Park, Franconia Notch State Park (Flume-Basin-Cannon Mt. Aerial Tramway), Lost River Gorge, and Clark’s Trading Post for the whole family, young and old to enjoy.
Ascend to the summit of the Northeast’s highest peak via the Mt. Washington Auto Road or the Mt. Washington Cog Railroad. Train lovers can ride the Hobo Railroad out of Lincoln or the Conway Scenic on the other side of the Kancamagus Scenic Highway, one of the most beautiful drives in the region.
Sometimes the very best activities can be found right at the Gale River Motel itself. Enjoying a barbecue, playing with the little ones in the playground, tossing a few horseshoes, playing catch on the lawn, lounging at the pool, soaking in the hot tub, or gathering around the fire pit at night with the stars overhead and the crickets chirping in the background as the melted marshmallows and chocolate are sandwiched between the graham crackers. Sometimes, life just doesn’t get any better!! The Gale River Motel is where memories to last a lifetime are made.
